Natpe Europe 2015, more conferences & exhibitors

22-06-2015
For second year in a row, Natpe Europe is taking place at the Hilton Prague Hotel, Czech Republic, on June 23-25. Rod Perth, president & CEO of Natpe, is pleased with the move from Budapest (Hungary, and has confirmed to Prensario the attendance of more than 120 exhibitors from 25 countries, of which 20+ are in Prague for the first time.

In terms of buyers, there are close to 250 executives from 30 countries of the region, a similar figure compared to last year. Again, there are Major screenings at the show: the previous day, today Monday 22, with Warner Bros. during the morning, and the first day of the market, tomorrow Tuesday 23, CBS and NBCUniversal in the morning and at midday, respectively. Also, Latin distributor Telemundo International provides a main screening & cocktail in the evening of today Monday 22, at Hilton hotel.

‘We continue to see a great potential of growth in Central and Eastern Europe, that’s why we are so excited for this second edition. All Natpe resources have been located in Prague to offer our exhibitors the best experience and business tools. This year we have increased the number of panels, following what we do in Miami’, says Perth.

‘We’d like to establish the previous market day as a reference of key information about the CEE region. Three conferences have been confirmed. First, Global TV Formats - What's Hot and What's Not?, presented by format veteran Keri Lewis Brown, managing director, K7 Media, and member of the FRAPA board’.

‘Second, the panel Buying or Selling? Creating or Adapting? with Luci Burnley, SVP, formats, Small World IFT (UK), Pascal Dalton, regional sales director, TV formats & new media, Endemol Shine Group (UK), Jennifer Ebell, VP, SE EMEA, ITV Studios Global Entertainment (UK), Nathan Gibbs, group head of format acquisitions, Zodiak Media (UK), and Jerome Pichot, SVP formats, sales and acquisitions, French TV (France)’.

‘And third, the International Co-Productions: Partnerships That Are Taking Center Stage panel with Claude Chelli, producer, Versailles, Capa Drama - Zodiak Media, Ben Donald, executive producer, international drama, BBC Worldwide (UK), Simon Maxwell, head of international drama, Channel 4 (UK), and Anne Mensah, head of drama, Sky (UK)’. Moreover, the British writer Adrian Hodges (The Musketeers, BBC) offers a Breakfast Keynote Session on June 23 from 8.30 to 10am.

Natpe Europe has a difficult challenge ahead: to continue being the gateway for Central and Eastern European market. It has now more competitors with trade shows in Russia (World Content Market in May), Croatia (New Europe Market in early June) and Ukraine (Kiev Media Week in September); and, more important, it is organized in a region that it is still not recovered from global 2008-2009 crisis.

The event organizes the welcome cocktail on Sky Bar & Lounge, on tomorrow Tuesday 23, sponsored by Czech broadcasters NOVA TV & TV Barrandov, and the Czech producer association APA, and the Welcome Party on Wednesday 24, sponsored by AXN Europe.
