DRG promotes Richard Halliwell as CEO

10-07-2017
DRG (USA) announced that its managing director, Richard Halliwell, has been promoted to CEO after the move of Jeremy Fox as new executive chairman. At the same time, the business announces that Adam Bath has been promoted to the role of VP Sales, EMEA.

Richard Halliwell joined DRG in 2013 from BBC Worldwide, where he was commercial director for entertainment formats, rolling out titles such as Dancing with the Stars. During his time at DRG he has grown and diversified the business, steering it to a 25 per cent increase in turnover last year. This has been largely fuelled by attracting an ever- increasing pool of producer partners from around the world who, along with sister MTG companies, deliver a pipeline of wide-ranging, high quality scripted and non-scripted content. In addition, he has recently restructured the business to maximise future growth potential, refocusing the sales team and recruiting Elin Thomas as DRG’s first ever EVP of sales.

In his new role as executive chairman of DRG Jeremy Fox will primarily focus on scripted opportunities for the business, as well as his new venture, Atrium TV. He comments: ‘Richard is very entrepreneurial and commercial, he gets things done and succeeds in managing everyday issues while constantly driving the business forward with new ideas. DRG is in very safe hands with him at the helm and I am delighted that we have been able to recognise his significant achievements and contributions with this promotion.  With developments such as the recently announced partnership with Wildseed, Richard is breaking new ground for DRG – as well as distributors in general – and I am excited to keep working alongside him as he creates further interesting opportunities for our expanding business’.

Halliwell: ‘With the support of Jeremy and MTG, plus the ongoing commitment of the DRG team, we have long been able to punch above our weight in the marketplace. In my new role I will continue to push the boundaries to ensure we retain that reputation, and explore new opportunities for developing, creating and monetising content in order to grow our business – and that of our partners - still further’.
