ABS-CBN: the most watched TV network in The Philippines in July

ABS-CBN Corporation, the Philippine’s leading media and entertainment company, capped the month of July as the most watched TV network in the country after its programs dominated ratings in both urban and rural homes nationwide.

According to Kantar Media, ABS-CBN scored an average audience share of 46% in combined urban and rural homes last month compared to rival network GMA with 34%. Multinational audience measurement provider uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

The network also ruled across all time blocks from morning to evening and rated highest on primetime, where the network enjoyed a 51% average national audience share which means half of the Filipino viewing population tuned in to ABS-CBN’s programs from 6pm to 12am. Its rival GMA, on the other hand, only scored a primetime audience share of 32%.

Among the top shows were the action series Brothers with an average national TV rating of 37.3%: ever since it launched in PH television in September 2015, the show has been the undefeated number one program in the Philippines.

Also the newest fantasy drama La Luna Sangre, which scored an average national TV rating of 34.8%. It is the third installment of ABS-CBN’s hit Imortal saga following She-Wolf: The Last Sentinel, which earned lead star Angel Locsin an International Emmy nomination for the best actress category. And Wildflower, which keeps stronghold of its viewers last month with an average national TV rating of 23.9%.

The network proves to be a leader in localizing worldwide hit shows as its adaptation of The Voice Teens that ranked third in the top ten and scored a national TV rating of 34.2% nationwide. This is the first teen edition of “The Voice” to be mounted in Asia and second in the world following Colombia’s La Voz Teens. The show recently held its grand finals where 14-year-old Jona Soquite coming from Filipino Popstar Sarah Geronimo’s team was named champion.

Aside from radio and television, ABS-CBN has also become the leader in the local music, film, cable TV, and publishing industries and is also the pioneer of digital television in the country. As of June, ABS-CBN TVplus has already sold three million boxes nationwide since its launch in 2015 and significantly boosted the TV channel ratings.

According to Kantar Media, the TV channel audience share in Mega Manila increased to 36% in 2017, compared to 30% in 2015, as more households are able to experience crystal clear viewing experience with ABS-CBN TVplus. ABS-CBN’s ratings in Mega Manila also rose to 14% from 11% in 2015.
