05-10-2017
Electric Pictures (Australia) and Bristow Global Media (Canada) have started production on 100 Days to Victory, a gripping account of the last 100 Days of the First World War.

Set to premiere in Fall 2018 to coincide with the centennial anniversary of the First World War, the 2x60’ docudrama has been commissioned by Corus Entertainment’s History in Canada and Foxtel’s The History Channel in Australia and New Zealand, as well as BBC Scotland, with principal production investment from Screen Australia in association with Screenwest and the Canada Media Fund (CMF).

Through cinematic recreations, interviews with top historians  and state-of-the-art CGI, 100 Days to Victory tells the story of how the Allied generals strategized to win the war. Five of history’s most visionary leaders Marshall Ferdinand Foch (France), Field Marshal Douglas Haig (Britain), General John J. Pershing (United States), General Arthur Currie (Canada) and General John Monash (Australia) came together to defeat the enemy with unprecedented teamwork and innovation. Exciting and dramatic, this docudrama brings the men and women behind WWI's finest multinational feat of arms vividly to life.

‘This is such a dramatic and important story about one of the most significant turning points in history,’ said Julie Bristow, President and CEO, Bristow Global Media. ‘We can’t wait to share this with audiences around the world and we couldn’t have asked for a better co-production partner in Electric Pictures, who have a strong reputation for producing first-class history content.’

‘At its core, this is the story of how international co-operation, trust, and innovation won a war, so it is very appropriate that this mini-series is also an international collaboration.  Canada is a natural fit, and we are thrilled that Bristow Global Media has joined with us to bring this important anniversary project to television screens,’ added Andrew Ogilvie, CEO of Electric Pictures.

‘100 Days to Victory is a big story told by a strong collaboration of Australian and Canadian production teams. Screen Australia is delighted to see Australian producers working with international partners on projects of this scale,’ said Liz Stevens, Senior Manager, Documentary at Screen Australia.’ Australian screen businesses are attractive partners for international projects because they know how to raise money and to produce quality programs whilst working across countries and cultures.’

‘Screenwest is proud to support Western Australian filmmakers Electric Pictures to tell the story of this pivotal moment in Australian and world history, one that would have a large impact our place in the world as a nation,’ comcluded Ian Booth, CEO, Screenwest.

100 Days to Victory is an Australian-Canadian co-production for Foxtel (Australia), BBC Scotland and Corus Entertainment’s HISTORY, executive produced by Bristow Global Media’s Julie Bristow and Marlo Miazga and by Electric Pictures’ Andrew Ogilvie, Andrea Quesnelle and Phil Craig. Kew Media Group is managing the international distribution.
