ELO Company inks exclusive agreement with BRIO

06-10-2017
Focusing on the production of premium content in Brazil and abroad, Elo Company has recently inked an exclusive agreement with BRIO network of journalists for the production of original content.

Present in the market for over 10 years, Elo is recognized as one of the largest distributor of national documentaries, and since the beginning of this year it is also acting as a production company.

Now with Maria Carolina Telles, formerly working with Discovery Networks and responsible for over 35 productions, leading Elo’s new development hub, the company is about to compete with the big  and stablished players in the factual/non-fiction sector.

'Our goal is to meet the large demand from TV and new media channels for investigative content, and to produce many international originals. With a model similar to that which Fox Film developed with Epic - a first-look deal - Elo has been working together with BRIO in more than 6 projects, and there are a number of potential stakeholders already interested in commissioning and/or licensing agreements. MIPCOM this year is very promising!', says Sabrina Nudeliman Wagon, CEO for Elo Company.

Maria Carolina Telles: 'There’s no good factual content without great stories. And well-told stories need not only a good screenplay and narrative framework – they require access to sources, fact checking, research, and commitment to characters. A premium non-fiction product must be nurtured primarily by best-in-class journalism. Our Development and Production Department is an experience of convergence between these domains, with a robust, exclusive writersroom. Quality and editorial curatorship – these will be the trademark of our productions'.

'Brio always wished to walk the audiovisual universe; the stories that we produce show this concern about building narratives based on movie screenplay elements', adds Breno Costa, a co-founder of BRIO, and completes: 'Partnering with Elo will allow us to go further and more strongly, enabling us to activate a network of journalists spread all over Brazil that we have been building since 2016'.
