Amazon Prime Video presented The Grand Tour in UK

11-12-2017
Amazon Prime Video hosted last Friday 8th December in London an exclusive event to launch the second season of the series The Grand Tour.

Fans of the show were treated to an immersive journey through the venue, which was transformed into a homage to all things The Grand Tour, for a screening of the first episode of the highly anticipated launch of the second series exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide on Friday 8 December.

Celebrity fans of Amazon’s global hit series including David Haye, Professor Green, Laura Whitmore, Ashley Roberts, and Jack Whitehall sat down to watch the show in bespoke cars for the event and mingled amongst Jeremy, Richard and James’ first ever “corporate cars” – their Reliant Robins, beach buggies from the series 1 Namibia special and The Grand Tour themed food trucks.

To introduce series 2, Jay Marine, Head of Amazon Video Europe and Andy Wilman, Executive Producer of The Grand Tour took to the stage for a Q&A before Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May delivered a special video message to the guests.

‘It was tough, that was like a movie production. So we thought, how do you top that and luckily Richard crashed and that was our news. That was good of him. He’s a team player,’ said Wilman, and added: ‘We joke about it but it was a serious crash, we’re glad he’s ok. In its own way, it was more serious than the big jet crash. He thinks more about what could have happened. If he’d been unconscious, he would never have got out. It was more horrible.’

‘It’s got that proper Grand Tour feel, we’ve been to 14 countries, we’ve flown collectively around 700,000 miles, 63 cars, £11 million of cars tested, 2,000 hours of footage. Series 2 is better than Series 1 because it has found its feet. The studio has gone up another level. I hope you see that when you see it.’’

The UK launch event was part of a wider celebration for series 2 of The Grand Tour with launch events for this global hit show also taking place on the same day in New York in the U.S, Essen in Germany, Paris in France, Bologna in Italy, San Paulo in Brazil, Mexico City and Sydney Australia.
