Mipcom 2013: Keshet debuts new formats and series

30-09-2013
Keshet International, the worldwide distribution and production arm of Keshet Media Group launches its new slate at Mipcom, from 7 to 10 October, which features five new titles.

Highlighting the slate is Rising Star, a live competition show. Its launch marks the first format incorporating real-time voting by viewers via an innovative app that is fully integrated into the show. Home viewers decide who advances, whilst the viewers’ pictures appear on the large screen facing the contestant. When the performer reaches the target voting percentage, the screen rises and the new star is revealed. From the very first episode, viewers play an integral role in every decision made on the show throughout the entire season. The free app makoTV provides a platform for mass voting from home-viewers.

The format, which launched in Israel as Hacochav Haba September 16, on Keshet Channel 2, will be screened at Mipcom. The live debut scored a 44.7% share and 32.6% rating.

Marathon, a new prime time docu-reality format, debuted on Keshet Channel 2's on September 16 scoring a 29.5% share. Five ordinary people, with no athletic background, come together with one common goal: in just 8 months they will run a marathon.

Other programming on the non-scripted slate includes Face 2 Face, a studio dating show accompanied by an application that allows the bachelorette to produce a facial image of the man of her dreams. Throughout the show, the bachelorette is able to see the men whereas only once she has selected one of the contenders, will he be provided the opportunity to lay eyes on her and decide whether or not she might be their ‘dream girl’.

Game show format Pick a Pocket is the first street game show to shamelessly invade contestants’ private wallets where prize money is based on the amount of money the contestants happen to have in their wallets. Two passersby will go head-to-head answering a single trivia question that has many answers. The first contestant to get stuck or provide a wrong answer is out of the game, and the hunt for the next contestant begins.

Elsewhere, a scripted reality format, What Happens in…, sees nine celebrities leave their lives behind for a one-month stay at a hotel in Israel's resort city.

Lastly, Keshet introduces Sure or Insure, the romantic comedy She’s With Me and two series based on their original formats: Girlfri3nds and Deal With it!.
