Brazil: Scripps Networks names new Production and Digital Director

The U.S media company Scripps Networks International announced the appointment of Adriana Alcantara, a media veteran with over 20 years’ experience in production, programming and content development, as Production and Digital Director of Brazil. Alcantara will report to Márcio Fonseca, managing director of Latin America

 In this role, she will be responsible for digital strategy, content creation and development as well as the production and creative strategy for Scripps’ channels in the region.

Fonseca said: ‘Alcantara’s experience in the region gives her a keen understanding of local tastes which will be instrumental as she leads our digital and content production strategy’. 

Alcantara comes to Scripps Networks International from Apple where she was iTunes’ head of movies for Latin America and Iberia. In that role, she was responsible for developing the programming strategy, leveraging cross-content opportunities and overseeing local content acquisitions. Before joining Apple, she served as head of content, programming and production for Oi, Brazil’s largest telecommunications company. She has also held senior level production and programming positions at Globosat and Viacom Networks, and senior producer roles at Disney Channel in Brazil and NBC in New York.

Scripps Networks International operates Food Network and Travel Channel in Asia, the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as well as the Asian Food Channel in Asia and Fine Living Network across EMEA. Scripps’ international business also has a significant presence in Canada, which includes HGTV Canada, DIY Network Canada and Food Network Canada. The division’s global offices are headquartered in New York City and Knoxville, Tennessee, with regional offices in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
