Studiocanal sells multiple hours of premium European drama across Asia

STUDIOCANAL has sold a slew of its premium dramas to top broadcasters and platforms throughout Asia, ahead of the forthcoming MIPCHINA event which celebrates its 2021 edition next 28 June.

Canal+ Creation Originale series ZeroZeroZero, Possessions and War of the Worlds, lead the way into a number of fruitful partnerships across the region. In Japan, Tohokushinsha Film Corporation has acquired Possessions and ZeroZeroZero alongside Years & Years. French, Irsaeli thriller Possessions will be launching in Japan with much anticipation this Autumn and stars Nadia Tereszkiewicz who previously won the Award for Best Actress at the 32nd Tokyo International Film Festival.

Mola Indonesia has also acquired more than 100 hours of programming for its SVOD service, including a number of original productions from the Canal+ channels in France and Poland, including crime series Paris Police 1900 and The King Of Warsaw, plus comedy and short-form dramas All The Way Up, Nine Women and UFOs. Amongst the selection, Mola has also partnered on upcoming spy thriller Ridley Road, created by RED Production Company (It’s A Sin, Years & Years) for BBC UK and PBS Masterpiece USA, which is set to premiere later this year.  

In Hong Kong, newly launched On-Demand library Now Studio, operated by Now TV, PCCW Media, is renowned for showcasing the best series “Fresh from the West” and has picked up SVOD rights for leading and award-winning  dramas including War of the Worlds, ZeroZeroZero, Possessions, On Death Row and La Flamme.   

Finally, crime thriller ZeroZeroZero will also be coming soon to new audiences in Vietnam, following an acquisition by VSTV for their Pay TV & SVOD services, which are part of the Canal+ Group. The acclaimed crime series will launch on their K+ channels later this year, alongside Danish drama Pros & Cons, which returns to Vietnam with its second season.  

All deals were brokered by STUDIOCANAL’s Sales Director,  Sarah Mottershead.
