Award winning UMMI debuts at Discop
UMMI... more stories please is a new award winning 3D animated musical series for children age 3 to 10 the Malaysian distributor World Right Corporation is pushing at Discop West Asia, which begins next week in Istanbul, Turkey.It has created strong interest amongst TV stations and distributors across Asia, Africa, MENA and also the Islamic channels in Europe and USA. And it recently won Malaysia’s NEF-AWANI Award for Best Animation & Games. The series is supported by MDeC and Cradle Fund Malaysia.
Farid K Ahmad, director of WRC, comments: ‘UMMI has already created a big wave in the local Islamic community via its trailer and music videos on YouTube, getting millions of viewers. Its first season of 13 episodes will complete production by end of April and will be shown on Malaysia’s TV3 in June. Second season is already confirmed for May 2014’.
The series tells stories infused with music taken mainly from the Quran to educate her ‘children’ at her transit home. ‘We hope UMMI will encourage the same feeling of togetherness’, says Johan Nawawi, five times AIM award winner (Malaysian Grammys) music composer, producer and CEO of HudHud Media Sdn Bhd. Nora Ariffin, a very popular nine times AIM award winning singer and celebrity is the original founder of UMMI, who is also the script writer, editor and voice director.
The songs are all originally composed, produced and scored by Nawawi and his team and performed by various singers including Nora along with the members of the group called Voices of Ummi, who recently bagged the prestigious AIM18 awards for The Best Nasyid Song for the song Pedoman and also “The Best Music Video” for the same song at the Nasyeed.com awards.
