FremantleMedia: new Latin American sales

14-05-2013
FremantleMedia is heading into this year’s LA Screenings having inked a number of new sales and with a slate of finished programs and innovative formats for U.S. and Latin American buyers.

Jamie Oliver is on the menu as Mundo Fox orders Jamie’s Great Italian Escape, Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals, Jamie’s Road Trip (seasons one and two), Jamie Oliver At Home, Jamie’s Kitchen and Jamie’s Food Fight for the U.S. Hispanic market.  The latter has also been sold to Fox Life for Latin America and Globosat in Brazil.

Latest sales of finished programming to LatAm buyers also includes the never-ending search for a goldmine of unclaimed property with Auction Hunters joining the TruTV line up later this year.

Rounding out sales are the U.S. version of Hole In The Wall, the global TV format sensation that began in Japan, and Bindi’s Bootcamp, both heading to Televisa Cable. Hosted by wildlife advocate Bindi Irwin, the series takes children on exhilarating adventures at the iconic Australia Zoo.

Sheila Aguirre, SVP Sales and Development, Latin America and Hispanic USA, FremantleMedia International, said: ‘Our diversity of programming throughout Latin America continues to bring the best of world-class entertainment to the region. The Latin American market continues to remain a top priority for FremantleMedia and we are thrilled to be providing this line-up of superb programming’.

FremantleMedia will also be looking to generate new sales with a number of finished programs and formats across a range of genres. The international production and distribution company is giving top billing to Blake’s 7, the reboot of the UK sci-fi classic announced at MIPTV; Wentworth, the reimagining of Australian drama Prisoner (aka Prisoner Cell Block H) which following its premiere on 1 May, has become the highest rated local production in Australian subscription television history and the second most watched program (non-sport) of all time on Foxtel; UK drama The Making of a Lady; new comedy titles from Vuguru including Hollywood Help and Fetching; factual titles Tattoo Nightmares and Money Barn; and kids’ title Strange Hill High.

Formats for LA Screenings include prime time hit Everybody Dance Now, an upbeat contest on an unforgettable dance floor; the unique cross-genre dating game Perfect Score that tempts contestants to pick their perfect match for a cash prize; The Year of Making Love, a unique nation-wide event to explore the science of matchmaking; nail-biting reality format The Intern which pushes three young hopefuls to their limits; the hilarious new game show The Noise proving that silence really is golden as teams battle it out to perform tasks without making a sound; and Chameleon, the hilarious new show that sees hidden cameras rolling as contents infiltrate situations in which they clearly don't belong.
