M6 acquires Global Agencys format Shopping Monsters
French broadcaster M6 has commissioned Global Agency's hit daily makeover format Shopping Monsters and will launch in June.Produced by industry veteran Hervé Hubert, the series will debut on June 10 at 16:25. The show will be known locally as Les Reines du Shopping (Shopping Queens).
In Turkey, Kanal D has now aired more than 500 episodes of the show, while German channel VOX has broadcast more than 250 episodes. It has also run for a season in Bulgaria (TV 7); the Netherlands (RTL 5); Ukraine, where a second season is currently on air (K1); and Russia, where a second season will launch this summer (CTC).
Shopping Monsters is a stripped daily entertainment format in which five women each week compete to see who can get the best makeover in a limited amount of time, and on a fixed budget. Every day one contestant puts together her new style, and is then given a secret score by her four rivals. At the end of the week, the woman with the highest total score wins a cash prize.
The format is one of many successful entertainment titles in Global Agency's fast-growing catalogue, alongside shows such as Rivals in Law and Don't Say It, Bring It!.
