26-03-2026
CJ ENM’s leading music channel Mnet has announced the launch of a brand-new K-Dance competition program this summer, shifting the spotlight to performance directors who shape every element of a stage

Mnet recently released the first teaser for the new program on its official YouTube channel, “The CHOOM,” sparking anticipation among global fans who have followed the success of the Street Woman Fighter series.

While previous seasons focused primarily on dancers’ performance abilities, the upcoming series will highlight the journey of “performance directors,” who oversee every aspect of a stage—from choreography and planning to scripting and overall production.

The show emphasizes the growing importance of performance directors in the K-pop industry, where they play a crucial role in shaping stage layout, direction, and overall stagecraft.

Fans of the Street Woman Fighter series have already witnessed the impact of directing through various missions, including ranking missions and the mega-crew mission. Building on this, the new series will shine a spotlight on the world of performance directing, introducing global audiences to its creativity and craftsmanship.

One of the most distinctive features of the new program is its “all-gender” competition format—the first of its kind for Mnet’s dance survival shows. This approach focuses on performance directing itselfemphasizing on talent over genders.

Producer Choi Jung-nam said, 'In the professional performance directing scene, success ultimately depends on an individual’s ability to deliver choreography and stage direction that can establish their name in the industry'.

Choi added, 'This series will explore who l can present the most outstanding and jaw-dropping performances, driven by creativity and professionalism—without limitations imposed by gender'.

Since the premiere of Street Woman Fighter in 2021, Mnet has expanded its “K-Dance IP universe” globally with spin-offs such as Street Man Fighter, Stage Fighter, and World of Street Woman Fighter,  further redefining  K-culture as a global phenomenon.
