Breakthrough and Vast team up for three upcoming Christmas films

As part of the new model, Breakthrough and Vast will welcome storytellers to submit scripts, helping build Canadian content and growing opportunities for industry creatives in both the US and Canada to tap into the popular holiday romance genre.

All three films are Executive Produced and Directed by Vast Entertainment CEO Lane Shefter Bishop, a multi-award-winning producer/director. Throughout her career, Bishop has received numerous accolades for her work, including an EMMY, and has shaped Vast Entertainment into the go-to book-to-screen company.

'Whether we’re bringing words to screen through books or original screenplays, our relationship allows us to pool our resources and incredible expertise to form a production powerhouse in this space'.

Mistletoe and Molly (based on the novella by Jennifer Snow with a screenplay by Snow and Joshua Roach) Christmas Beneath the Stars (based on the book by Melissa Hill with a screenplay by Isabel Dréan) and Secret Santa (created and written by Dréan) were also Executive Produced by Craig McGillivray, Ira Levy and Michael McGuigan from Breakthrough Entertainment. Miljoy Entertainment served as an additional Executive Producer on Mistletoe and Molly; while Paul Lepore, Marian Lepore and Andrew Bishop were Executive Producers on Secret Santa.

Sales (to date) of the three films include UPtv (USA: Mistletoe and Molly, Christmas Beneath the Stars) and Super Channel (Canada: Mistletoe and Molly, Christmas Beneath the Stars and Secret Santa).

Beyond the development of further holiday romance films, Breakthrough and Vast continue to develop additional projects together, including the series adaptation of Internationally acclaimed best-selling author Anne Perry’s popular William Monk Mysteries.
