GoQuest Media signs up crime dramas from Telewizja PolskaGlobal independent content distributor GoQuest Media has acquired two captivating crime dramas from Poland
The deal sees GoQuest Media acquire the worldwide distribution rights to Erinyes (Erynie) and Crusade (Krucjata) produced by Poland’s largest television network Telewizja Polska (TVP).
Starring Marcin Dorocinski known internationally for his role as Antoni Pakulski in the BBC and Telewizja Polska co-production, “Spies of Warsaw” (also starring David Tennant) and as Vasily Borgov, aka 'The Russian' in Netflix's smash hit, “The Queen's Gambit”, Erinyes (12 x 45’) is a crime series based on the short stories written by crime novelist Marek Krajewski.
Marcin Dorocinski also plays King Yaroslav the Wise in Season 2 of another Netflix hit recently released “Vikings: Valhalla” and is also set to appear in a key role in the next two editions of the iconic "Mission: Impossible" movies - “Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning - Part One”, set to release in July 2023.
Directed by award-winning director Borys Lankosz, the series also stars Wiktoria Gorodecka, Szymon Wisniewski, Wojciech Mecwaldowski, Eryk Lubos, Miroslaw Kropielnicki and Jakub Kamienski.
Set in pre- and post-war Lviv and Wrocław, Edward Popielski (Marcin Dorocinski) is a detective inspector of extraordinary intellect and physical strength who is tormented by visions caused by epilepsy attacks, which he uses to his advantage in investigations.
He works as an officer of the law but operates outside of it. Just like the Erinyes who most desire revenge, Popielski has no mercy in the brutal criminal world he lives in. Erinyes is a retrospective crime series that also pictures the Borderlands and post-war Poland, showcasing the vibrant, multicultural, and beautiful lands that disappeared behind the eastern border.
Directed by Lukasz Ostalski the contemporary police procedural drama Crusade (13 x 45’) is a suspenseful action series focusing on the investigations conducted by Detective Jan ‘Manjaro’ Góra (Julian Swiezewski) and his colleagues from the Crime and Criminal Terror Division of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police.
They investigate a series of murders and kidnappings of celebrities - an influential TV journalist, a judge in a talent show, a banker, and an MP. At first glance, the cases are not linked. However, it soon turns out that all the tragic events are arranged into a much larger and more complicated whole. Behind these crimes stands an anti-system terrorist organization operating in Warsaw.
Commenting on the acquisitions Jimmy George, VP Sales & Acquisitions at GoQuest Media said, ‘This MIPTV, we're excited to introduce two new titles from Poland to the international market, produced by Telewizja Polska (TVP).
The period crime drama Erinyes already has a vast fan following, and we see it extending its fanbase around the world. Edward Popielski combines the erudition of Poirot and the charm and intensity of Bond with the non-conformism of a modern-day, Avenger hero.
With Crusade, the ensemble's chemistry, its exceptional narrative plot, and fast-paced action places it right in the league of police crime dramas that are so popular now. We are thrilled to continue our relationship with TVP and to bring their original series to global platforms’.
‘TVP is very happy to work with GoQuest Media again. We trust the company and we see how passionate they are about our TV series. We are sure that thanks to our cooperation Erinyes and Crusade will gain international recognition and the series will reach global audiences. These titles deserve wide exposure and GoQuest Media will surely make it happen’, added Aleksandra Kaźmieruk, Head of Worldwide Sales, Films and TV Series.
