A+E Global Media appoints Chris Stewart as Vice President of Content Sales

A+E Global Media has named Chris Stewart Vice President Content Sales, overseeing content sales across the UK, Ireland and Germany, it was announced today by Patrick Vien, Group Managing Director, International, A+E Global Media. 

Stewart joins A+E from Banijay Rights, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President, UK & Eire, leading sales strategy and deal negotiations across the UK and Ireland for the company’s extensive content catalogue. Earlier in his Banijay tenure, he oversaw sales across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  

'Chris brings a rare breadth of experience across sales, acquisitions, programming and content financing, along with a deep understanding of what buyers need in an increasingly complex marketplace', said Vien. 'His commercial instincts, strong industry relationships and ability to identify opportunities across platforms will be tremendous assets as we continue to expand the reach of A+E Global Media’s content across these key markets'.

Prior to his most recent role, Stewart served as Commercial Director, Scripted at Banijay Rights, where he helped shape the company’s scripted strategy, sourced and negotiated development and distribution opportunities, and worked with producers to finance and position programming for the international marketplace. Prior to that, he was Head of Drama at BBC Worldwide, responsible for acquiring and financing drama programming for international distribution and overseeing the company’s U.S.-based slate. He began his distribution career at 2 entertain Video Ltd, where he held programming and commissioning roles focused on BBC fiction programming.

Stewart will be based in the UK.
