Argentina: Telefe airs Turkish remake of Japanese drama “Woman”
Telefe Channel 11 in Buenos Aires and its nationwide network are premiering the Turkish remake of Nippon TV’s (Japan) global success “Woman – My Life for My Children”, “Kadin”/“Fuerza de Mujer” (Calinos Entertainment) occupying the slot held by Brazilian drama “Jesus” (Record TV), which has led the ratings charts for months.Turkish drama is widely popular in Argentina and most Latin America since the success of “Kara Para Ask” (Inter Medya) and “Fatmagul” (Kanal D). The “Elif” (Eccho Rights) saga remains attractive to the audience long time after its premiere in August 2017: it comprises 5 seasons and 940 episodes. “Broken Wings”/“Kanatsiz Kuslar” (Inter Medya) has also remained among the Top 5 most watched programs during its run. “Kizim” (Madd Entertainment) (My Little Girl) has been recent a success, too, as “Todo Por Mi Madre”.
It is the second time that Japanese storytelling, curated by Turkish hands, reaches Latin America in top form. The first time was with “Mother/Madre” (Global Agency). Titled “Anne” for the region, it has been a co-production by MedYapım and MF Yapım for Star TV (Turquía) starred by Cansu Dere (“Sila”, “Ezel”). “Woman” is currently being aired in Chile by public broadcaster TVN and has been a success at WAPA in Puerto Rico.
Turkey is considered the largest foreign source of linear free television programming for Latin America; content from other Asian countries, such as India and South Korea, have been seeking entry for some time.
