BBC Studios: The Great Bake Off arrives in Morocco

The Great Bake Off made its debut in Morocco last month through 2M marking the 35th territory to license the format, at the same time, the format is also set to return for its tenth series in Sweden (TV4) and Denmark (DR) in 2021.

The Great Bake Off made its debut in Morocco last month through 2M marking the 35th territory to license the format, at the same time, the format is also set to return for its tenth series in Sweden (TV4) and Denmark (DR) in 2021.

Adding to this, the show will count with format license agreements reached for Bake Off Junior in the Netherlands (Zapp, part of NPO3), Belgium (SBS) and Denmark (DR).

Locally named, Patissier Bake Off, premiered in Morocco on free-to-air broadcaster 2M in January 2021, is produced by Public Evenement Productions, the series comprises of 8x'90 episodes and is judged by professional pastry chef Othmane Belefkih, and cake designer Bouchra Tmimi. The series premiere overnight audience reached 4.5 million viewers and a 40% audience share.

Danish broadcaster DR have renewed their agreement for a tenth series following the fantastic performance for series nine where the finale received a 71.8% share and a higher average share than across all previous seasons. TV4 in Sweden have also signed on for a tenth series in 2021.

Licensed to countries such as Kenya and Brazil, The Great Bake Off sees passionate amateur bakers compete to be crowned Best Amateur Baker. Over the course of the series the audience follows the trials and tribulations of the competitors, as they attempt to prove their baking prowess. Each week the bakers tackle a different baking skill, which become progressively more difficult as the competition unfolds.
