Directed by Katja Benrath, the 90-minute film will compete in the Elements +10 category on July 19th, with the boutique label KIDS & YA managing international sales.

Beta Film has acquired the international distribution rights for the 90-minute family feature Just Call Me Frida. The film is scheduled to have its world premiere in the Elements +10 competition at the Giffoni Film Festival on July 19th. The festival, focused on children and young audiences, will serve as the launchpad for the title, with sales handled by Beta Film's specialized label, KIDS & YA.

Directed by Katja Benrath and written by Anne Gröger, the film is produced by NEOS Film and TELLUX Film. The project is co-produced by Mideu Films, it Media, Tellux 1-13 Medienproduktion, Gretchenfilm, SWR, BR, and MDR.

The narrative centers on eleven-year-old Samuel, who maintains a highly restricted daily routine and rarely leaves his home due to the fear of falling ill again after recovering from a long-term sickness. His structured lifestyle is disrupted by the arrival of Frida, a character who claims to be a "Little Grim Reaper" in training. Frida’s presence forces Samuel to venture outside, leading to a series of shared experiences through which he begins to overcome his anxieties.

While the film addresses challenging underlying themes, the story focuses primarily on personal growth, development, and human connection.
