21-05-2026
The event, scheduled for May 28, targets industry professionals, international buyers, media, and audiences in the UK, following the series' initial broadcast performance in South Korea and Japan.

Entertainment company CJ ENM, in coordination with the Korean Cultural Centre UK (KCCUK), announced a special screening event for the television series 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier'. The event will take place on May 28 at the KCCUK headquarters in London, serving as part of CJ ENM's distribution and expansion strategy within the European market.

The series is produced by Studio Dragon as a TVING Original and features a main cast led by Park Ji-hoon and Yun Kyung-ho. The narrative combines elements of comedy and fantasy, tracking the story of Kang Sung-jae (Park Ji-hoon), an individual who enlists in the military to alter his socio-economic reality, subsequently encountering a virtual quest system that directs him toward becoming a military kitchen worker. Through the resolution of these tasks, the character uncovers internal unit issues using cooking methods.

Auditing and Market Performance Indices
Since its official launch on May 11, the property has registered specific commercial benchmarks in its initial operational territories:

South Korea: Ranked first in paid subscription acquisition metrics on the TVING platform during its debut week, achieving a linear television household rating peak of 6.2%.

Japan: Positioned second across all programming genres and third within the specific drama category via the TVING Collection on Disney+ Japan.

The international distribution framework for The Legend of Kitchen Soldier also encompasses availability on the streaming platform Rakuten Viki, alongside an active release schedule on HBO Max spanning 17 countries and regions across the Asia-Pacific territory.

Event Logistics and Institutional Perspectives
The screening event, officially titled K-Drama Spotlight: The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, will commence at 18:30 on Thursday, May 28. The program includes an institutional reception featuring Korean refreshments tied to the culinary motifs explored within the show's script.

'We are thrilled to bring The Legend of Kitchen Soldier to London, a city that sits at the crossroads of global culture', stated Diane Min, Head of Europe Sales at CJ ENM. 'This event is more than a screening; it is a reflection of how K-dramas are no longer peripheral but central to the global entertainment conversation. As European appetite for Korean narratives reaches an all-time high, CJ ENM is committed to leading that dialogue'.

An official representative from the Korean Cultural Centre UK added: 'We hope this event will serve as a meaningful opportunity to showcase the storytelling power of K-dramas and the richness of Korean culture to audiences in the UK, while also allowing British audiences to gain a broader understanding of Korean culture through drama, food, and conversation'.
