The Directorate-General for Cinema and Audiovisual Media of the Italian Ministry of Culture and the CNC, have officially announced the establishment of a new joint Italian-French group of experts dedicated to European policy for the film and audiovisual sectors. The group was set up under the Cooperation Programme signed by the two countries’ Ministries of Culture in Antibes on 25 June. The initiative marks a new phase in cooperation between Italy and France on strategic priorities at the European level and on policies designed to support the development and strengthen the competitiveness of their respective film and audiovisual industries.
This was followed by the announcement at the heart of this 12th edition of MIA: RP1 Holding and MCT Credit Solutions are launching One Media Capital Fund, a €100 million fund to finance audiovisual productions in Italy.
The initiative was presented this morning during the conference ‘New Capital, New Opportunities’ by Mauro Martani, CEO of RP1 Holding, Raj Singh, CEO of MCT Credit Solutions and Stephen Saltzman, Partner & Head of the International Entertainment Group FieldFisher.
This is a major development for the film and television production sector, where substantial liquidity is required throughout every stage of production. One Media Capital Fund was created to support the industry by offering companies financing tools tailored to the needs of the production ecosystem and complementary to traditional bank lending. The aim is to establish an efficient, specialised system for accessing finance that supports individual projects and frees up resources for new investment. The project was conceived and developed by RP1 Group companies (Start One Media Funding, +One and PayOne), drawing on their expertise in audiovisual production, industry consulting and the management of incentive schemes, including film tax credits.
The panel ‘Equity & Growth Capital: Investing in Creativity, IP and Long-Term Value’ brought together leading investment funds, media financial advisers and industry executives to explore how equity capital is reshaping the financing landscape, from project investments to strategic partnerships and business growth. The panel included Christopher Woodrow, Founder and Chairman, Media Capital Technologies – MCT Credit Solutions (US); Celine Dornier, Content Executive, IPR.VC (Finland); Antoine Bodet, Partner, AXIO Capital, Together Fund (France); and Christopher Borde, MD, Media & Entertainment Advisors (UK).
The morning of the second day concluded with Roeg Sutherland of CAA Media Finance, who explained how audiovisual projects are structured, financed and positioned in today’s international market, outlining the key elements that make a project attractive to financiers and buyers.
