Ukraine is increasing the production of films and series to meet domestic demand for quality, homegrown entertainment — replacing the content that, before the war, often came from Russia. These new titles are proof that Ukrainian stories — authentic, emotional, and universal — have strong global appeal.

Despite the ongoing full-scale war, Ukraine’s film and TV industry is not only surviving but thriving. FILM.UA Group, one of Eastern Europe’s leading content productions, proudly announces three ambitious new projects set to captivate global audiences: the gripping procedural drama RABBLE, the live-action fantasy feature MAVKA. THE TRUE MYTH, and the animated family series MOM HURRIES HOME. All three will be presented at MIPCOM 2025 in Cannes.

Ukraine is increasing the production of films and series to meet domestic demand for quality, homegrown entertainment — replacing the content that, before the war, often came from Russia. These new titles are proof that Ukrainian stories — authentic, emotional, and universal — have strong global appeal.

RABBLE — Addictive Procedural with a Twist
A fresh entry into the globally loved detective procedural, RABBLE (12×45’) follows the newly formed MIS — a special investigative unit tackling the country’s most complex murders. The department is led by a battle-scarred veteran, devoted to justice but faithful to no woman, whose new team hides a shocking secret: each member is a former criminal who escaped punishment by serving the law.

Balancing drama, action, and sharp humor, the series offers a new murder investigation in every episode alongside a powerful horizontal storyline full of romance, secrets, and moral dilemmas. Inspired by the enduring success of long-running hits like NCIS, RABBLE is designed to become a favorite for audiences aged 18–54, delivering character-driven storytelling with global sales potential.

MAVKA. THE TRUE MYTH — A Romantic Fantasy for Global Audiences
Building on the phenomenal success of the animated hit Mavka. The Forest Song (released in nearly 150 countries, grossing over $21M worldwide), this bold live-action reimagines the beloved Mavka Universe for young adult audiences (12+).

In this new chapter, inspired by authentic Ukrainian mythology, Mavka is a dangerous forest nymph tasked with luring humans to their doom — until she falls in love with a young biologist. Their forbidden romance defies the will of the lake’s mermaids, threatening to pull her back into the darkness.
Shot on location in Ukraine’s magical forests, with extensive CGI enhancing the visuals, the production showcases the country’s stunning landscapes. Starring newcomers Arina Bocharova and Ivan Dovzhenko, the film promises freshness and authenticity. With distribution already secured in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, the film is set for domestic release on March 1, 2026.

MOM HURRIES HOME — Wholesome Magic for the Whole Family
Mom Hurries Home (26×7’) is a warm-hearted 2D animated series for children aged 3–6, following the adventures of a family living in a modern city who believe in miracles and actively take part in magical events. Based on the popular book and interactive app of the same name, the series promotes family values and reassures children that they are loved, important, and that parents will always come home. Each episode blends humor, adventure, and magic, offering content that can easily expand into books, merchandise, and cross-platform adaptations.

With these three titles, FILM.UA Group reinforces its role as a creative powerhouse in Eastern Europe. All productions are a testament to the resilience and ambition of Ukraine’s film and TV industry — proving that even in wartime, the country continues to tell big stories, discover new talent, and deliver world-class entertainment.
