Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho earns global recognition anew with a bronze win at the 2025 New York Festivals for its powerful investigative piece on the environmental impact of mining in Homonhon Island.

The Philippine’s most-watched and multi-awarded news magazine show, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS), adds another feather to its cap after clinching a Bronze Tower Trophy at the prestigious 2025 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards. The winning entry, Minahan sa Homonhon Island (Nickel and Dime: The Cost of Mining in Homonhon Island), aired on April 17, 2024, and exposed the environmental and social toll of large-scale nickel mining in Eastern Samar.

Recognized under the Environment & Ecology documentary category, the episode earned praise from the NYF’s Grand Jury, composed of seasoned global media professionals. Rose Anderson, Executive VP of New York Festivals, lauded the GMA team for “demonstrating the power of storytelling.”

This marks KMJS’s fourth NYF win, reaffirming its dual legacy as a ratings powerhouse and globally lauded program. Host Jessica Soho expressed deep gratitude to viewers and to the people of Homonhon for sharing their story: ‘Hindi po makakalipad ang aming team kung wala kayo’.

Now in its 20th year, KMJS continues to dominate ratings with a combined GMA-GTV reach of up to 9.3 million viewers in April 2025, according to Nielsen data.

Catch KMJS every Sunday night on GMA, or stream via FacebookYouTube, and GMA Pinoy TV.
