NHK makes Yayoi Kusama Doc available worldwide in memory of the artist
In response to the passing of globally acclaimed artist Yayoi Kusama, NHK, with the cooperation and support of those involved, is making its documentary Yayoi Kusama: Unstoppable Polka Dot Princess available online to audiences around the world. Originally aired in Japan in 2012, the documentary looks back on her extraordinary life and creative journey, celebrating her vision, resilience, and lasting legacy whose influence continues to resonate globally. The documentary will be broadcast on NHK's international channel, NHK WORLD-JAPAN, and will also be available through its VOD service. Starting Sept 20, following the broadcast on NHK WORLD-JAPAN, the documentary will be available on streaming for viewers worldwide.

Known for her signature polka dots and the Infinity Nets series, Yayoi Kusama earned international acclaim as one of Japan's most influential contemporary artists. This documentary follows Kusama at the age of 83, offering a rare glimpse into her daily life and creative process. Having transformed lifelong experiences of hallucinations and anxiety into groundbreaking artistic expression, Kusama continued topursue new creative horizons even after achieving worldwide success as the “Queen of Polka Dots.” The program captures her life living in a specialized care facility while maintaining her daily artistic practice, her work in the studio as she explores new forms of expression, and reflections on art and creativity in her own words.
