ORF honored for documentary excellence
Documentaries on sustainability and tradition earn gold, silver, and global recognition.ORF-Enterprise has received major international acclaim for its excellence in documentary filmmaking. At the prestigious US International Awards 2025 in Los Angeles, ORF was honored as “TV Network of the Year” and garnered multiple accolades for two standout productions: Saalbach-Hinterglemm – Where Nature Comes Out On Top and From Black to Green – A Chimney Sweep’s Journey.
Gold and Silver Awards Recognize Environmental and Cultural Storytelling
The Universum Nature documentary Saalbach-Hinterglemm – Where Nature Comes Out On Top, a co-production with Interspot Film, won Gold in the category Documentaries & Reports – Environment, Ecology & Sustainability. The film captures the delicate interaction between human activity and wildlife in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, site of the 2025 Alpine Ski World Championships, showcasing efforts to foster coexistence between people and nature.
Meanwhile, From Black to Green – A Chimney Sweep’s Journey, directed by Alexander and Nadeschda Schukoff, earned two Silver Awards in the categories Environment, Ecology & Sustainability and Safety. This compelling documentary traces the historical and cultural evolution of chimney sweeps, highlighting their modern role in the shift toward renewable energy. It also reflects on their deep-rooted symbolism and the iconic Habsburg belt buckles still worn today.
Nomination at Wildscreen Panda Awards 2025
ORF’s commitment to sustainability storytelling was further recognized with a nomination for the Sustainability Award at the Wildscreen Panda Awards 2025, considered one of the highest honors in environmental media. The nominated film, Saalbach-Hinterglemm – Where Nature Comes Out On Top, stands as a testament to ORF’s enduring mission to inform, inspire, and foster ecological awareness through high-quality broadcasting.
