OTTera doubles down on supporting diverse creators and technology leaders within streaming space through its partnership with AfroLandTVOTTera, a multi-service technology provider bringing publishers content to life across all major platforms for CTV, FAST, mobile & desktop, announced an investment deal in AfroLandTV, a black-centred streaming service, today. The first ever investment of its kind for OTTera, this partnership was an undeniable opportunity for collaboration and business development. OTTera originally invested in AfroLandTV because of not only believing in the content and vision, but also understanding first-hand the hurdles faced when raising capital as a minority owned and led business.
AfroLandTV is a streaming service on a mission to bring pan-African stories to global audiences, strategically focused on creating and distributing content authentically. This investment will allow AfroLandTV the ability to create additional new original IPs, while adapting OTTera’s technology to significantly grow the network's IP distribution, licensing and monetization. AfroLandTV is backed by heavyweight players including Comcast NBCuniversal and Techstars. With this investment, OTTera’s CEO & Co-Founder, Stephen L. Hodge will join their executive board effective immediately.
'We have been supporters of the mission behind AfroLandTV since Michael’s initial announcement into the space back in 2019 and are proud to have been selected by AfroLandTV as their exclusive vendor in 2021, assisting Afroland’s expansion in reach and monetization', said Stephen L. Hodge. “'t’s during this time I’ve also had the opportunity to understand the greater vision of the service which aligns with ours in our desire to build a premium supply of content for video consumers and advertising agencies globally. My goal has always been to bring forth diversity, equity, and inclusion into the OTT space and this partnership lent a perfect opportunity while raising awareness around the stories of underrepresented groups within the tech and streaming entertainment space'
Michael S. Maponga, CEO of AfroLandTV said, 'We are so excited to have OTTera as a partner and investor in our vision to bring African stories to the world. The world-class technology and advertising they're bringing to AfroLandTV will help us focus on what we do best, providing the best African content. We're so glad to have OTTera in our corner as we continue to work towards leading this market'
Now with the support of OTTera’s business capabilities, AfroLandTV and OTTera will work as partners with the ultimate goal of bridging its stories to audiences it previously has not been able to reach and breaking African stereotypes in mainstream media.
