Spain’s Pokeepsie Films, Led by world-renowned director Álex de la Iglesia

EO Contents Group, a leading South Korean studio, and Pokeepsie Films, one of Spain's  top production houses, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the co production of films and TV series at the Pokeepsie Films headquarters in Madrid.

EO Contents Group is a dynamic production house active in both film and television. Its recent successes include the drama Night Has Come, which ranked #1 in the TV series category  on Netflix Korea in 2023. The company is poised for a busy 2025 with a slate that includes the dramas Love Scout and Head over Heels, as well as the films The Noisy Mansion and Ghost Game. 

Pokeepsie Films is the acclaimed Spanish production company led by world-renowned director Álex de la Iglesia and producer Carolina Bang. Its celebrated filmography includes Perfect  Strangers, 30 Coins, The Bar, and Veneciafrenia. Álex de la Iglesia has won numerous international  awards, including the Silver Lion, the award for best screenplay at the Venice International Film  Festival, the Golden Raven, the audience award at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival,  the award for best film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, and several Goya awards. 

In  the past year, Pokeepsie Films continued to consolidate its excellent reputation in the mystery,  thriller, and crime genres with the Netflix original series 1992. Director Álex de la Iglesia is hailed as  a master of genre filmmaking and a legendary figure in Spanish cinema. He is also a beloved director in Korea, where he held a master class in 2017 at the Bucheon International Fantastic  Film Festival (BIFAN) titled 'Álex de la Iglesia: El Maestro Cineasta Fantástico'.

This co-production partnership is expected to create powerful synergies in the global content  market. EO Contents Group has a proven track record of producing TV series and films with  global appeal, while Pokeepsie Films has built an international reputation for its original and critically acclaimed genre projects. Furthermore, with South Korea and Spain firmly established as  cultural content powerhouses representing Asia and Europe, this agreement holds significant  meaning as the two companies combine their creative and production capabilities to pursue joint  ventures targeting the global market. 

Through this MOU, both companies will mutually review their project IP, discover and co-develop  a diverse slate of joint ventures, and cooperate closely on the co-production of TV series and  feature films. 

Director Álex de la Iglesia of Pokeepsie Films expressed his high expectations for the  collaboration, stating, “I hold Korea’s storytelling and production capabilities, which consistently  create works enjoyed by people all over the world, in high regard. I was greatly impressed by the  many projects EO Content Group is producing, and I believe this partnership will become a new  model for collaboration between Spain and Korea” (Iglesia 2025).
