TV Asahi achieves second consecutive “Triple Crown” in 2025 Ratings and Expands Global Content Strategy.
TV Asahi has achieved a “Triple Crown” for the second consecutive year in the 2025 average television ratings (Video Research, Kanto region) in the Individual Total category, ranking No.1 across all three key time slots: All Day, Golden Time (7:00–10:00 p.m.), and Prime Time (7:00–11:00 p.m.). In the Household category, the network secured the Triple Crown for the fourth consecutive year. One of the key reasons for this strong performance is that TV Asahi maintained strong results across a wide range of genres—including news, drama, and variety programming—leading overall viewership throughout 2025.
TV Asahi will further accelerate its global content strategy starting in fiscal year 2026. The network will newly establish a Sunday night programming for “Global Challenge,” and will develop new projects designed to boost the global reach of its shows.
The first lineup will be the third season of the hit dating reality series "Love Time Travel" premiering this April. First presented at MIPCOM 2025, "Love Time Travel" garnered high acclaim from international buyers for its innovative mechanics.
The core theme of "If you had met in a different era, would you still have fallen in love?" resonates with audiences globally. The latest season highlights the contrast between analog and digital eras, offering a format that can easily be adapted to the history and culture of any country or region.
Starting with "Love Time Travel" TV Asahi is moving forward to create innovative new projects for the global market, including physical competition shows and other unscripted entertainment formats.
The network has a long history of exporting its formats worldwide. One notable example is “Ranking the Stars,” which has produced local versions in more than 11 countries and continues to enjoy strong popularity in the Netherlands even more than 20 years after its debut. Another success is “SONG vs DANCE,” originally developed as a Japan–U.S. co-production, which has expanded across Europe, with the Estonian version “LAUL vs TANTS” achieving outstanding ratings.
These successes demonstrate the global potential of Japanese formats, proving that distinctive ideas created in Japan can resonate with audiences around the world. TV Asahi will continue collaborating with international partners to bring Japan-born content to worldwide
